A crowd is created - When do people start becoming a part of "WE"?

When does a crowd become a "We"? The creation of a crowd begins as a communion of ideas, shared feelings, and experiences that resonate with a nascent thought already existing in the mind. It is driven by a sharing of surroundings coupled with a belief in a protagonist, or, if not the protagonist himself, then the standard and reasoning he represents. At this stage, becoming part of the crowd is not necessarily about strict compliance or adherence; rather, it is born out of a mutual respect for achieving a particular goal. All of these elements combine to create a shared identity. The creation of this identity is essential because it provides meaning to the standard upon which the goal has been placed. We place this goal on a pedestal because it aligns with our individual aspirations, or at least, it is manipulated to appear that way. Because it feels so deeply personal, the collective identity becomes sacred and cannot be tarnished in any manner. Through this merging of individual aspiration and shared belief, the crowd is created. The collective identity becomes "We."
